To ensure everyone’s health and safety, the following Covid19 protocols are currently in place at our centres. Please note these protocols may be revised and will be dependent on public health recommendations for after school and preschool/daycare programs:
Health Monitoring:
If a staff or child is visibly exhibiting any symptom of Covid 19 temperature will be checked using a thermometer. Anyone with a fever or any other symptom will not be permitted to attend the program.
**Note: Children are not permitted to attend a program if they have received fever reducing medication within the last 24 hours before attendance.**
Face Coverings:
Staff and children are supported if they choose to wear a mask or face shield while at the program
Hand Sanitization/Washing:
Children and staff will sanitize their hands before entering the program space. Hand washing will take place before snacks and lunch. Hand washing is required after toileting. Cough and sneeze etiquette will be required by the children and is required by the staff and parent/guardian. All staff and children will wash their hands after blowing their nose. Tissues will only be single use and children will be encouraged not to touch their face.
Cleaning of the program area:
Per Service NL guidelines, anti-virus strength cleaning solutions will be used on the tables, chairs and high touch point areas and supplies. Staff will clean high touch point areas regularly (including the washrooms.) Hand sanitzation will be required by everyone, children and staff, before re-entering the building after outdoor play time. Art supplies and sports equipment will be sprayed with an anti-virus cleaning solution
at the end of each day.
Activities:
Outdoor activities will take place as much as possible. Outside time may be structured for smaller groups in terms of areas of access, per the direction of the Department of Education.
Access to the Program and Reporting:
Anyone with symptoms of Covid19 will not be permitted into the programs until they have been cleared by public health, which may include multiple negative tests for the virus. Reporting to public health will occur as required.
Pick Up Procedure:
Depending of the alert level, the parent/guardian authorized for pick up may be required to call at arrival to the building and may be required to make an attestation to the attached Covid19 checklist with the staff while on the call. The parent/guardian will be required to use hand sanitizer on entering the building. Depending on the alert level, the parent/guardian may not be permitted to enter the main program area, rather he/she will remain in the foyer where their child will be led to meet them with their belongings. Patience and understanding are requested by all families as it is expected that Pick Up time may take longer than under typical circumstances during times of lock down. If at all possible, please consider allowing for extra time for these procedures, especially as staff will be required to sanitize the space and supplies after the last child is dismissed. Thank you!
